Background:
In a fictional campaign during WW2 allied forces have recently established small bases on Guam and Rota. A detachment of RAF, USN and USAF fighters are tasked with supporting offensive operations towards Tinian and Saipan islands in the north. US Marines have landed a small force on Aguijan just south of Tinian, and are preparing assets for a final push towards Tinian.
Situation:
The destroyer USS Cooper (DD-695) was hit and believed sunk east of Tinian during the night. The crew was able to partially repair it and regained contact with allied HQ at dawn. Japanese Torpedo boats and air assets are racing towards the destroyer, take off immediately and provide air cover and engage any approaching ships. The destroyer USS Benner is also steaming at full speed north to provide assistance. Carrier-based F4U:s are closest to the area and should expect to arrive first.
