Syria has given refuge to multiple Al-Qaeda leaders. This can no longer be tolerated and in order to make a statement we will strike their Chief of Operations, known in the organization as “The VIP”. Credible intel sources report he will attend a meeting at the Kharab Ishk facility on Apr 17th. We are not at war with Syria but any forces that interfere with our mission will be considered legitimate targets.

* April 17 – 2004
* 07:00 local time
* Broken cloud cover 12 / 26
* Wind from 305 / 4 kts
* FORCE QNH 2996
MiG-21, MiG-29
MiG-21s and MiG-29s are believed to be on alert in Aleppo and Palmyra. Intel indicates no more than a 2-ship on alert at either airfield.
ZSU-23 Shilka, MANPADS, SA-2, SA-8, SA-10, SA-15
SA-2 systems active in Bassel Al-Assad and Shayrat. SA-10 in Aleppo and Tiyas.
The target area is protected by a mobile SAM-system of unknown type, most likely SA-8 or SA-15. Satellite recon has identified three ZSU-23 emplacements in the area. Expect MANPADS as well.
N/A, we are the only blue forces in the AO.
The target area is under Al Qaeda control. No regards to collateral damage.
Eliminate the VIP. He is estimated to arrive at Kharab Ishk at or around 08.10 local time. Intel sources will provide a more exact time closer to the mission. It is imperative that we strike after the arrival of the VIP’s convoy but before he has entered the underground facility. The window of opportunity will be no more than a few minutes. To ensure maximum destruction, a silo filled with flammable material has been chosen as a secondary target. Destroying it should engulf the facility in flames.
Hornets from CVN-72 will perform a low-level deep penetration strike, avoiding the Syrian SAM cover. The strike will be self-escorted.
The mission contains 1 package, callsign ASSAMITE.
After departure, flights will join up over international water – HOLD point located 20 nm west of the Syrian coastline.
From feet dry to target area flights must remain as low as possible to avoid radar detection. The route is planned to not overfly any major cities.
