1 SITUATION

1.1 Overview


During the night, Russia launched an attack in northwestern Georgia. The attack began with pre-emptive strikes from artillery and naval gunfire on Georgian posts along the border as well as nearby airfields, Including Gudauta Air Base, where two observers from the USA have been reported among the dead.
The attack has been temporarily halted in the village of Byzb.

CTF.201 (MA) stationed in the area since last week has been ordered to begin Operation Rapid Response

1.2 Area of operations


Abkhazia, NW Georgia.
The Caucasus Mountains make the terrain very channelized where the only way forward for armour is along the coast.
The mountains also allow good opportunity for covert advance by helicopter in the valleys.

1.4 Air threats


MiG-29S and Su-27 conducting CAP missions in georgian airspace. Su-25T, Ka-50 and Mi-8 supports ground forces with CAS/BAI and transport.

1.5 Ground threats


Ground forces consist of T-80, BTR-80, BMD-1 and BMP-2. The use of the MANPADS is to be expected from all Russian units.
SA-10 located at Maykop-Khanskaya.
SA-15, SA-11 and SA-6 located at Sochi-Adler.
SA-19 and ZSU-23 supporting ground forces.
Neustrashimy-class frigate located south of Sochi-Adler provide Naval Gunfire Support to ground forces.

1.6 Friendly forces


The army and national guard from georgias defence forces are located in the east and north part of Bzyb.
MIM-104 battery at Gudauta was damage during the initial strike, Deemed to be active NLT041000.

1.7 Civilian/3rd part


All civilians NW of Sukhumi have been evacuated.

2 MISSION


Deny enemy use of georgian airspace until 041000 local
Delay enemy ground forces at Bzyb until 050300
Disrupt enemy NGS NLT040900
Neutralize SA-11 and SA-6 at Sochi-Adler NLT040900

3 EXECUTION

3.1 Endstate


The mission is completed when the enemy no longer can use georgian airspace and the groundforces are isolated in the area of Bzyb

3.2 Order of events


Initially one package disrupt enemy CAP in the AO, One package conduct SEAD at Sochi-Adler, One package STRIKES bridges West, South and East of Bzyb. One flight disrupt enemy NGS.

Then one package conduct CAP in order to deny enemy use of airspace in AO. One package conduct BAI at Bzyb, One package and one flight rearm and refuel.

Finally two packages RTB, one package conduct CAP in order to deny enemy use of airspace in AO.

Guidelines: All attacks on ground units should be conducted above 15000ft or below 500ft AGL in order to avoid MANPADS
