1 SITUATION

1.1 Overview

The year is 1986, and the Iran-Iraq War is raging on. The United States, along with its allies, has launched Operation Earnest Will, a naval operation to protect Kuwaiti oil tankers from Iranian attacks in the Persian Gulf CVN-72, the world’s first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, is assigned to this mission, along with several other ships and aircraft

The Stenni’s air wing consists of F-14 Tomcats, A-6 Intruders, A-7 Corsairs, EA-6B Prowlers, E-2 Hawkeyes, S-3 Vikings, C-2 Greyhounds, and SH-3 Sea Kings3 Their main tasks are to provide air cover for the tankers, conduct reconnaissance and surveillance missions, and deter or engage any hostile forces in the area.
