Situation:
USAAF bomber groups are in the midst of an intensive bombing campaign targeting infrastructure in northern france. Today’s mission will be the railway station of Bernay, a crucial stop along the Paris – Caen line.
A number of B17 bombers will depart from Thorpe Abbots in Norfolk, escorted by USAAF P51s and supported by the RAF.
Assignment:
Depart from RAF Funtington and climb to 21 000 feet to join up with the bomber group at the rendevouz point of the Cuckmere river estuary, south west of RAF Friston at 04:30:00 Escort them to Bernay and back. Return to Funtington.
