1 SITUATION

1.1 Overview

The friendly rebel forces (The Kurds) have successfully entered Raqqa after our success and the terrorist group is now on the run south towards Iraq, but they still have a firm grip on the town and airfield of Palmyra. What is more worrying are the intel stating they have captured several mig-21: s and a complete SA-10 battery.

Syrian air force has now only one operating base in the center of their country at Al Qusayr. They can likely scramble 2-4 jets if they decide to from from Al Qusayr. The quality of their pilots is presumed to be poor. However, we expect many helicopters and transportation traffic as Syria are trying to rebuild there airbases up in the north with assets from Damaskus.

Russia are a “no factor” as there still are rebuilding their base at Latakia.

1.4 Air threats

MiG-21, MiG-29, MI-24

Syria have at least four mig-21 station at Al Qusayr, their pilots are poorly trained. Airbase Marj Ruhayyil have all remaining mig-29 stationed to provide security to the area of Damascus. Also expect a lot of traffic from helicopters and AN-22 from Damascus up to Hama, Aleppo and Jirah as they are rebuilding there bases and runways in that area.

Note that the enemy group have got their hands on four mig-21. We do not know the state of there pilots. and who is actually flying them

1.5 Ground threats

BMP-2, BTR, MTLB, T55, ZSU-23, ZSU-23 Shilka, MANPADS, SA-8, SA-10

Syria’s remaining SA-10 are located at Damascus int airport and the terrorist group also have a complete and fully functional SA-10 system at Palmyra that are a highly threat to us.
Expect high concentration of 23mm and up to SA-8 in the region.

2 MISSION

Establish CAP in the AO so we can takeout the SA-10 at Palmyra, training camp, EWR and the power supply for Damascus.

3 EXECUTION

3.1 Commander’s intent

ELVIS, MUSTANG, CRIMSON and BENDER to provide cap at there predefined locations, or at STINGRAYs direction. FENRIS and HITMAN to move in at the same time. FENRIS to destroy the EWR that the terrorist group have tapped in to. HITMAN to fly in from the north to destroy the two large power supply stations located close to Damascus. INDY need to destroy the SA-10 at Palmyra for the RAGE and HAWG flights to move in and clean up all the terrorists. ARCTIC to destroy the training camp southeast of Palmyra in the desert. QUEBEC are tasked to “hunt” helicopter:s and transportation aircraft.

3.2 Packages

The mission contains 1 package, callsign WOLFPACK. All flights are part of package WOLFPACK.

3.3 Order of events

1. ELVIS – Provide CAP.
2. MUSTANG – Provide CAP.
3. QUEBEC – Provide CAP.
4. BENDER – Provide CAP.
5. INDY – Destroy SA-10 site at Palmyra.
6. FENRIS – Destroy the EWR station located north of Palmyra
7. ARCTIC – Destroy training camp southeast of Palmyra. Targets consist of both soft and hard targets up to t-55. Expect 23mm and up to Sa-8.
8. HITMAN – Destroy two large powerstations located 14nm east of Damaskus.
9. HAWG – Work with RAGE9 at Palmyra and destroy as many targets as possible.
10. RAGE – Work with HAWG at Palmyra and destroy as many targets as possible.

ARCTIC1 – You are tasked to destroy as many units as possible at your target (WP3). This is a training camp for the terrorist group so this is a target rich environment. The area do have airdefence but no larger systems have been reported.

FENRIS6 – Your tasking is to destroy one Syrian EWR north of Palmyra. This EWR are feeding information to the SA systems around Damascus and other parts in the AO. To make thing wurst, the terrorist group have tapped in to the system and are also receiving information. Secondly, destroy as many units as possible. Expect light anti-air in the region.

HAWG8 – You are tasked to destroy the four mig-21:s that the terrorist group have station at Palmyra. At the time two are parked on the Eastern apron and two inside shelters. Ones succeed continue to work on any enemy units in the area of the airport. Note that you will have to coordinate with RAGE9 who are tasked to clean the airfield and around the city.
