Being a rookie mission:
This is a rookie mission and should be considered an event somewhere between Träningstisdag and THT in complexity. It's perfectly fine to feel clueless about stuff as radio calls, airport procedures, not be able to fly formation as M4U3N, or not know all your aircraft's system as your own back pocket. The goal is to 1) have fun and 2) better understand MA flight operations in a forgiving and educating way in order to very soon fully enjoy THT:s like a pro baws mayne!

Being primarily a rookie mission some senior presence is very appreciated to encourage positive learning (and avoid the opposite)! In particular: 1) one senior in each flight as coach, 2) a package lead, 3) AWACS and 4) ATC. I've added some stuff to make the AWACS job a little exciting

Background:
As consequence to the rapidly dwindling relationship between Georgia and Abkhazia in early 1995, followed by the diplomatic crises between UN and Russia triggered by the controversial CIS removal treaty, UN decided to reinforce UNOMIG with additional military assets. These assets include US, Swedish, and French air assets based at Kutaisi International Airport, in addition to the US aircraft carrier rotation in the Black Sea. The UN lead air force has been operational for 16 days and is heavily opposed by Abkhazia and Russia. The diplomatic situation in the region has plummeted to an all-time low since the 1992-1993 war.

Situation:
Yesterday, on April 2 at 1603 hours, the crew of F-15E, 87-0172, c/n 1037/E012, lost control of their aircraft for unknown reasons. The crew ejected at 1607 hours in Georgian airspace. Directly afterward the aircraft resumed level flight and strayed into Russian airspace for a duration of approximately 45 seconds followed by a left turn into Abkhazian airspace where the aircraft went down. Preliminary radar and satellite analysis estimated a crash site with 60% probability 4,5 nm south of the Russian border and 9 miles west of the Georgian border, in mountainous terrain, which was with improving weather upgraded to a 100% probability.

Combined intelligence suggests that Abkhazian troops have already located and begun scavenging the wreckage. Intelligence also suggests a Russian presence in these operations. Among the evidence is an SA-6 battery within Abkhazian territory, an asset not previously known to be in Abkhazian possession.

At 0315 command of UNOMIG’s air detachment was transferred to US command. At 0316 a strike mission to hit the crash site and trucks suspected of being loaded with parts from the F-15E was authorized.

Special note F-15E, 87-0172, c/n 1037/E012:
The aircraft was at the time of the accident carrying the experimental SAHA Surveillance Pod. This particular piece of equipment must be destroyed together with all other avionics, sensors, and advanced armament.

Time and weather:
* April 2 - 1995
* 07:00 local time
* Partly cloudy (clouds between 10000'-12000')
* CASE 1 conditions
* FORCE QNH in area is 2992 / 1013

Package mission:
Target Breitling (AJS37)
Breitling (WP3) is the F-15E crash site located on a southside mountain slope, close to the treeline, 2 nm north of villages Marjena Gentsvishi and Martskhena Gentsvishi. Smoke from the aircraft is present.

Target Omega (A-10C)
Omega is a convoy consisting of two military lorries with UAZ escort. Omega was last spotted at WP3/Omega-A traveling westbound on SH10/810. Swedish attack divers have managed to set up a roadblock, WP4/Omega-B, 10 nm southwest of Omega-A. It is however unclear how long this roadblock can sustain. Strike as soon as possible.

SEAD/BDA (F/A-18C)
Perform SEAD in AO (WP3). Establish CAP southeast of WP3. Perform BDA after strikes at Breitling and Omega if possible.

TARCAP/BDA (F/A-18C)
Establish TARCAP between WP3 and WP4. Perform BDA after strikes at Breitling and Omega if possible.

Order of events overview:
1) Package departs Kutaisi and CVN-72 respectively.
2) Package holds at WP1 at assigned altitudes.
3) SEAD flight pushes at 07:55 and suppresses or destroys SAM in AO.
4) TARCAP flights pushes at 07:57 establishing air superiority in AO.
5) Strike flights push on pre-briefed push time between 07:58 and 08:01 to hit Breitling and Omega.
6) BDA.
7) Package RTB. Carrier recovery at 09:15.

Do not stray into Russian airspace.
