SUMMARY:RotorThursday – Once again\, closer!
DESCRIPTION:RSVP: 2025-09-12 – 19:30 (please sign-up asap though\, as it makes things easier to plan)\nActivity: Security/recon.\nTheatre: Syria\nModules: OH-58D\, AH-64\nPrerequisites: None \nWeather:\nMission time 20:00 (Dark)\nQNH 29.80. Low cloud base. Wind 090/2 Temp +20C \nWe will continue our security task in AO CHESTNUT against militia trying to destabilize Syria. (with a twist…) \nSITUATION\nLast missions success have triggered something we did not anticipate. BADLAND\, the country north of the known border has been known for supporting the militias with weapons and supplies but have now moved into an active phase. \nENEMY\nArmored convoys have crossed the border crossings and advanced south towards CHARLIE along MSR FOX in order to complete what the militias failed to. – evicting US forces out from OP OAK.\nEnemy forces are better trained and better equipped\, T-90s and BMP-3 have been spotted in the convoys crossing the border.\nLooking at their AA assets we have seen ZSU-23-4 Shilkas\, SA-13 and SA-15 before and expect to meet them again. \nFRIENDLY\nNo friendly ground forces in the active part of the AO. Area of 10km out from OP OAK is patrolled by friendly forces and considered safe. \nMISSION\nStop the enemy assault advancing along MSR FOX. \nLOGISTICS\nFARP at OP OAK\, no other replen available. \nCOMMAND/CONTROL\nFM 33.0 is package net for coordination between flights. \nGAMEPLAY\nRespawn is allowed in order to get as much training effect as possible. However if a bird goes down all other birds has to disengage and reform with the respawning bird before going back in against the threat. \nKNEEBOARD for this and future missions:

Not inside the claimed territory\, but on our side of the frontline. Russia denies any interference\, but the wreckage is clear\, and the fighter was even outside the NFZ they declared. Not only did they violate our airspace\, but they shot down a helicopter\, and even tried to attack our NASAM system in IVALO. We told them that we see that as a direct attack from russia\, not from any mercenaries driving around in T-90s from some black market\, and that we will answer accordingly.\nThis afternoon\, our prime minister played the UNO reverse card and declared a no fly zone 40nm into russia. Almost at the same time\, one of our HIMARS guys “mistyped a coordinate” somehow and leveled a power line\, sending the whole area into darkness. Oops. Won’t be back anytime soon. And we finally got satellite pictures of the area.\nThis night\, a strike package will cross the border to russia and level an ammunition depot near the border which is used for supplies to NELLIM. Satellite images proof that they resupply the front directly from that depot.\nAny nearby air defense is to be suppressed or destroyed\, and there are no restrictions to anything 40 miles away from the russian border near the disputed area. A few miles give or take… Murmansk is 80\, and the nearest SA-10 site is 30nm in. If you’re getting shot at\, you may reply with “suitable force”. Just don’t end up in Murmansk\, that might be hard to explain.\nUnfortunately\, enemy tanks were able to push the frontline about 3km south\, and are now at a position approximately there were we had the first contact\, a few kilometers northeast of the bridge we locked down. \n1.2 Area of operations\nEast of Ivalo\, the area consists of forest. \n1.3 Time and weather\n* May 13 – 2025\n* 02:00 local time\n* Scattered (8200′-11500′)\n* Wind 292 / 12\n* 9 degrees Celsius\n* FORCE QNH 2915 \n1.4 Air threats\nMiG-29S\, Su-27\, MiG-31 \nRussian CAP in the area\, but over russian soil. Unclear if they stick to their announcement to force a no-fly zone over the AO. \n1.5 Ground threats\nYes. Unclear number of air defense units\, most forces seem to consist of mechanized infantry. Expect some reinforcements\, maybe even 2S6 Tunguska.\nFurther\, known threats include:\n– SA-10\, located northeast of the area in russia (Bullseye 64 for 64)\n– 2x SA-15\, located south of the target\n– 2x 2S6 Tunguska\, located somewhere in the southern part of the AO\n– A few KS-19 \n1.6 Friendly forces\nSome tank groups east and northeast of Ivalo. It’s not much\, but it’s honest work. \n1.7 Civilian/3rd part\nSeveral houses\, especially in the small settlement of NELLIM in the north of the area\, near the road going into russia. Marked with a blue square in the map. \n2 MISSION\nFixed Wing:\nThe Joint Force Air Component (JFAC) has decided to establish CAP flights directly above the area\, provided that there are no high altitude threats left.\nSEAD will weed out any remaining or resupplied air defenses.\nA strike package will take down the two ammo depots\, and will serve as a backup CAP later. Strike package will consist of:\n– A sweep\, consisting of at least two aircraft\, 10nm in front of the strike package (optionally\, if ressources allow\, we will send some TALDs in the direction of the SA-10 northeast of NELLIM before that)\n– SEAD escort\, directly following the sweep\n– The strike flight itself\, consisting of at least two aircraft equipped with 2000lb penetrators.\nSweep flight will establish a TARCAP to cover the retreat. SEAD escort will attack any air defenses threatening the operation. If there aren’t any\, then they will focus on supporting air to ground operations.\nIf fuel and weapons permit\, the strike package will back up the existing CAP flights.\nIndependent from those\, CAP missions will be established directly over the AO\, and aggressive sweep / CAP duties will take place in the area 40nm east of the AO. Anything inside that area is considered hostile.\nMap for better overview: \n \nPicture of the target: \n \nHelicopters:\nHelicopters will proceed along road R969 towards NELLIM with the intention of ultimately securing the area up to NELLIM so that own forces can advance and cut off supplies from that axis.\nEarlier engagements faced T-90s\, BMPs and Infantry. \n3 EXECUTION\n3.1 Commander’s intent\nSecure the AO from enemy fighters. Cut off supplies from the NELLIM axis. Destroy the both depots north of NELLIM. \n3.2 Packages\nPackage HAMMER will be the strike package\, consisting of:\n– ARCTIC 1\, BENDER2: Sweep / TARCAP\n– JESTER 1: SEAD escort\n– HITMAN 3: Strike\n– INDY 9: SEAD Escort \nThe helicopter group is organized in package SHREDDER\, consisting of RAGE 9 and BLACKJACK 4. \n3.3 Order of events\n– ARCTIC 1 and BENDER 2 will be sweep / TARCAP. They go in first and will aggressively engage any fighters in the AO. 4 planes.\n– INDY9 will be SEAD escort and take care of the SA-15 south of the target. Follows ARCTIC 1 in a 2-5nm trail\, offset 2nm to the south to avoid shooting HARMs through the ARCTIC 1 flight. Will attack SA-15 site at waypoint 4. 2-4 planes.\n– HITMAN 3 will be the strike flight\, tasked with destroying both depots. Will follow INDY9 in a 10-15nm trail. Arnament is at least 2x 2000lbs penetrator per plane\, at least two planes.\n– JESTER1 is backup\nECM will be required to keep the SA-10 northeast of the target at bay. All flights use a RIGHT turnout south to avoid the SA-10\, as we will touch their engagement envelope. All CAP flights will flow south after the strikers are done\, and will avoid the SA-10.\nAfter the attack\, those airplanes that have a sufficient amount of fuel and weapons left will establish an aggressive CAP mission above the area in finland. Remaining AG ordnance will be spent on targets of opportunity if possible.\nIf we get additional airframes\, then we will use TALDs to get rid of the SA-10\, and either suppress or destroy it. In that case\, the TALD flight will be KRAKEN 2\, and they will go in together with ARCTIC 1\, offset to the north. \nHelicopters in package SHREDDER will progress along road R969 towards NELLIM\, shown in the left side of the picture\, about in the red area. If they should meet stiff resistance\, requesting help from the SEAD / recon package is recommended.\nPIG 7 will work in the southern part from RAJA-JOOSEPPI westwards\, while the helicopters will focus on the road towards NELLIM. PIG 7 will support helicopters if necessary / useful.\nWorking on the southern AO is NOT a fixed requirement. If enemy resistance is deemed to be worked on more effectively together\, then PIG 7 may focus on R969 instead. NELLIM is priority. \n3.4 Rules of engagement\nROE: C\nAs per SPINS\nNo restrictions on hostile contacts. \n3.5 Acceptable level of risk\nALR: MEDIUM\nAs per SPINS \n3.6 Flight tasking\nWaypoints\, package HAMMER \n* 1 Kittilä or Bardufoss (Home Airfield)\n* 2 Hold\n* 3 Target\n* 4 SA-15 site\nFurther points for reference\n* 5 NELLIM\n* 6 RAJA-JOOSEPPI border post\n* 7-11 Front line of troops for better visualization \nWaypoints\, other fixed wing \n* 1 Kittilä or Bardufoss (Home Airfield)\n* 2 NELLIM\n* 3 RAJA-JOOSEPPI border post\n* 4-8 Front line of troops for better visualization \nAll fixed wings except HITMAN 3 start from KITTILÄ\, HITMAN 3 starts from Bardufoss with is about 90nm longer distance compared to KITTILÄ. \n  \nRAGE9 / BLACKJACK 4 \nInterdiction northeast of Ivalo. \nLoadout: FL decides \nWaypoints:\n1. SUMMARY:CASE I
DESCRIPTION:NOTE: BESIDES THE MAIN EVENT\, THERE WILL BE A ORDINARY TRAINING TUESDAY FOR NON-NAVY AIRCRAFT \nRSVP:\n25 09 01 – 19:30 (please sign-up asap though\, as it makes things easier to plan)\nActivity:\nMission – CASE 1 rehearsal\nVersion / Modules:\nOpen Beta\, F/A-18C\, F-14B\nPrerequisites:\nGood knowledge of the aircraft systems. At least one succesful CASE1 landing beforehand. \nCase I departures and recoveries are utilized during daytime operations (day ops) when weather conditions are VMC. Case I weather requires the ceiling to be no lower than 3\,000 feet and not less than 5 NM visibility. \nRead before the exercise \nhttp://wiki.masterarms.se/index.php/CASE_1\nhttp://wiki.masterarms.se/index.php/Radials \nRecommended reading\nhttps://www.cnatra.navy.mil/local/docs/pat-pubs/P-816.pdf \nThe focus of this exercise will be on the overall CASE 1 procedure – not just getting high scores on the groove. For efficiency reasons\, and since the landing procedure is much more challenging than the departure\, we will be using airstarts. \nAll participants will be divided into flights and assigned a stack altitude before each round begins. Charlie time will be set to approximately 30 minutes after spawning in. All flights will start about 60 nautical miles from the boat. \nOnce you have spawned in\, join up with your group\, perform HAIL-R\, and contact marshal. After that\, proceed with CASE 1 as usual. Keep radio comms to a minimum – on tower frequency you should only transmit for ball calls and safety messages. \nAfter landing\, taxi away and park at a suitable spot. When everyone has landed\, we will conduct a quick debrief and then restart everything (with new stack altitudes). SUMMARY:Short timeline + merge - Top Gun style
DESCRIPTION:Everyone’s welcome to this training! \nTraining Mission: Default map on CA\, CAVOK \nPlanned Training: \n1. F/A-18C\n– Free training or join the Top Gun-style as described below. \n2. F-16C\n– Free training or join the Top Gun-style as described below. \n3. F-14A/B+F5 Tiger\nTop Gun style training for F14+F5.\nF14 with is blue – F5 is red\nDLO:\nAs a pair of F14:\n– to find\, sort and lock enemy targets from a commit that starts only 30Nm away\n– to secure launch parameters for AIM7 before the enemy gets within AIM9 range\n– to support each other in a dogfight 2 v 2\nAs a pair of F5:\n– to use the small cross section and high agility of the F5 to make life difficult for the F14 in BVR and WVR\n– to support each other in a dogfight 2 v 2 \nThis is a PvP training and require that at least 2 F14 pilots\, 2 F14 RIO’s and 2 F5 pilots sign up. Initial missile shots (AIM7) will only be made with voice (ie “Fox 1 on the F5 in a right hand turn”) to make sure that every engagement results in a 2v2 merge.\nSetup:\nBoth pairs start parallel 33Nm out and 15000ft. When ready the range controller calls “commit” and both pairs turn hot. The F5’s are free to fly however they want to make a lock difficult for the F14’s.\nThe RIO’s work to find\, sort and lock the target. Lead typically locks with TWS\, wingman with STT\, but in this case both will “shoot” AIM7 and thus does an STT-lock. F14’s takes the AIM7 shot when in launch parameters via voice.\nThe encounter is then transformed into a dogfight where all weapons are allowed (AIM7\, AIM9 and guns). The dogfight ends when both fighters on one side are down. \n4. AJS 37\n– TBU \n5. A-10C II\n– TBU \n6. AH-64D/OH-58D\n– TBU \n7. AWACS/ATC\nAWACS that want to practice can join the F14/5 training as a range controller. This will not be bulls-calls\, but assisting the training by checking positioning\, engagement distances and so on. \nAdditional Training Suggestions: \n* Practice things in the syllabus for your main aircraft\n* Tanker intercepts and rejoins Jax Tutorial\n* Tac turns Wiki\n* CASE 1 recovery Wiki\n* Overhead break Wiki\n* Time-on-target \nSign up\, then organize yourselves into flights to practice relevant stuff!

Military equipment isn’t officially shipped\, but it seems quite some stuff crosses the border. Communication got really quiet\, it seems they are relying on pen and paper now\, using couriers just like back in the old days to avoid any unwanted listeners.\nThe more concerning part is that no-fly-zone. Sure\, we don’t accept setting a no-fly-zone over our own territory\, but the russians seem to be willing to establish it. The burning wreckage of both of their flankers on finnish soil should have proven them wrong but apparently a bloody nose doesn’t stop them from trying as it seems. We even think that they might try to start some new escalation somewhere else in case they don’t succeed.\nHowever\, the joint air forces command has decided to stop the flow into Finland and thus cutting off the mercenaries from that black market in Africa\, obviously being shipped from MURMANSK to NELLIM or via the border post in RAJA-JOOSEPPI. Our first punch will aim towards NELLIM which is obviously their first route. \nThe artillery threat seems to have ceased\, but our forces in the east still get targeted by artillery every now and then. \n1.2 Area of operations\nEast of Ivalo\, the area consists of forest. \n1.3 Time and weather\nThe wind is getting a bit harder and it is more cloudy than yesterday. Still\, we fly at night. \n* May 12 – 2025\n* 02:00 local time\n* Scattered (8200′-11500′)\n* Wind 292 / 12\n* 9 degrees Celsius\n* FORCE QNH 2915 \n1.4 Air threats\nMiG-29S\, Su-27\, MiG-31 \nRussian CAP in the area\, but over russian soil. Unclear if they stick to their announcement to force a no-fly zone over the AO. \n1.5 Ground threats\nYes. Unclear number of air defense units\, most forces seem to consist of mechanized infantry. Expect some reinforcements\, maybe even 2S6 Tunguska. \n1.6 Friendly forces\nSome tank groups east and northeast of Ivalo. It’s not much\, but it’s honest work. \n1.7 Civilian/3rd part\nSeveral houses\, especially in the small settlement of NELLIM in the north of the area\, near the road going into russia. Marked with a blue square in the map. \n2 MISSION\nFixed Wing:\nThe Joint Force Air Component (JFAC) has decided to establish CAP flights just in case. Additionally\, SEAD patrols will weed out any remaining or resupplied air defenses. \nHelicopters:\nHelicopters will proceed along road R969 towards NELLIM with the intention of ultimately securing the area up to NELLIM so that own forces can advance and cut off supplies from that axis.\nEarlier engagements faced T-90s\, BMPs and Infantry so expect some resistance along that road. If you need additional sensors\, the SEAD package in the area can surely help out. Contact STINGRAY in that case. \n3 EXECUTION\n3.1 Commander’s intent\nSecure the AO from enemy fighters. Cut off supplies from the NELLIM axis. \n3.2 Packages\nThe CAP flights are not organised in a package\, but consist of the following two flights:\n– CAP north (west of NELLIM\, STPT 2): ARCTIC 1\n– CAP south (south of RAJA-JOOSEPPI\, STPT 4): BENDER 2 \nPackage HAMMER consists of two flights\, INDY 9 and JESTER 1. \nThe helicopter group is organized in package SHREDDER\, consisting of RAGE 9 and BLACKJACK 4. \n3.3 Order of events\nTakeoff from Kittilä (Ivalo for Helicopters)\, and then establish CAP / SEAD patrol over or next to the AO. The use of weapons is authorized\, but do not fly into russian airspace. A hard lock from a fighter justifies the usage of air-to-air ordnance\, also\, just passing the border or aggressive maneuvering counts as hostile act and is seen as a “weapons free”.\nARCTIC 1 will setup a CAP west of NELLIM\, BENDER 2 is assigned for a CAP south of RAJA-JOOSEPPI. Further tasking will depend on the situation.\nCAP is supposed to take off first. \nINDY 9 and JESTER 1\, package HAMMER will setup a racetrack between IVALO and NELLIM roughly between STPT 2 and STPT 6. Intention is to take out any remaining air defenses\, moving or stationary so that the helicopters can roam around freely. Package HAMMER will also support ARCTIC or BENDER if needed\, but the main focus is to take out any remaining air defense on the ground.\nSecondary objective for INDY 9 or JESTER 1 depending on the situation is to get a picture on a road running from the R969 intersection half the way to NELLIM running east\, then back to NELLIM. We suspect enemy forces there in the background.\nIdeally the run goes south – north so the TGP points to the right. The russians know that we don’t care about their declaration of the no fly zone but at least don’t fly into russia. At least not today.\nThat is the road in question: \n \nHelicopters in package SHREDDER will progress along road R969 towards NELLIM\, shown in the left side of the picture\, about in the red area. If they should meet stiff resistance\, requesting help from the SEAD / recon package is recommended. \n3.4 Rules of engagement\nROE: C\nAs per SPINS\nCAP should avoid flying into russian territory. \n3.5 Acceptable level of risk\nALR: MEDIUM\nAs per SPINS \n3.6 Flight tasking\nWaypoints\, fixed wing \n* 1 Kittilä or Banak (Home Airfield)\n* 2 NELLIM\n* 3 RAJA-JOOSEPPI border post\n* 4-8 Front line of troops for better visualization \n \n  \nRAGE9 / BLACKJACK 4 \nInterdiction northeast of Ivalo. \nLoadout: FL decides \nWaypoints:\n1. The initial force seems to have been infiltrated by parachutes and under the impression of being a tourist. Later on\, heavy equipment must have passed the border from russia. Ongoing talks indicate the intention to protect the local russian speaking minority. Which is probably the worst excuse we’ve ever heard. We are sure that it is a test for NATOs article 5 and have warned the russians to not mess with our operations. Russia has denied any involvement on the group. We have declared a no-fly-zone over the area\, but flying into russia is not allowed\, neither are strikes / weapon employment on russian ground.\nFighters passing the border or acting aggressively will be shot down though. We still hope to resolve the problem by the use of excessive violence but without involving russia in it. Officially.\nThe mercenaries were stopped a few kilometers in front of Ivalo\, which probably was the intented target of the operation. The enemy has employed air defenses that seem to be SA-11\, but there is “everything you can find on any black market in rural Africa”. Probably even old-style Flak in terms of large caliber AAA. \nIvalo is under fire from rocket artillery from the northeast. \n1.2 Area of operations\nEast of Ivalo\, the area consists of forest. \n1.3 Time and weather\n* May 11 – 2025\n* 01:00 local time\n* Light Scattered (7500′-11500′)\n* Wind 248 / 10\n* 7 degrees Celsius\n* FORCE QNH 2912 \n1.4 Air threats\nMiG-29S\, Su-27\, MiG-31 \nRussian CAP in the area\, but over russian soil. Probably no factor. Insurgents have no suitable helicopter base. \n1.5 Ground threats\nYes. Unclear number of air defense units\, most forces seem to consist of mechanized infantry. \n2 MISSION\nFixed Wing: \nThe Joint Force Air Component (JFAC) has decided to get in a few recce flights to get a clearer picture. Main push will be a few Vipers to look up air defenses from Banak and Kittilä. If we can get a few finnish hornets from Kittilä then attacking the most prominent air defense installations is a bonus.\nThe mercenaries seem to be able to access civilian radars\, as they are pretty careful with their radars.\nUse of any ordnance is cleared\, no cluster munitions near civilian installations. Recommendation for loadout is HARM + some hard kill capacity like JSOW\nAvoid any SAM systems until position is known. It is recommended to proceed along the front line.\nHelicopters will be operating in the area along the road towards NELLIM to find artillery targeting IVALO. Be prepared to support with additional eyes or buddy lasing\, if necessary.\nMain focus is to locate as many AD units as possible\, bonus if they get destroyed. \nHelicopters: \nProceed along road R969 towards NELLIM. Important points are:\nOwn forces: 35 W NS 33256 22164\nLast contact: 35 W NS 40730 27065\nArtillery is most probably between\n35 W NS 42818 28921\n35 W NS 48193 34349\nalong road R969\, as there is forest next to the road and little room for army operations or hideouts. All waypoints are along the road 969 between Ivalo and Nellim\, so you basically follow that road.\nEarlier engagements faced T-90s\, BMPs and Infantry so expect some resistance along that road. If you need additional sensors\, the SEAD recon package in the area can surely help out. Contact STINGRAY in that case.\nIf you can’t reach the artillery but manage to weed out enemy units then the mission will still be a success. \n3 EXECUTION\n3.1 Commander’s intent\nLocate as many air defenses as possible. Get an overall picture and if possible\, locate the artillery. \n3.2 Packages\nNo package management. \n3.3 Order of events\nTakeoff from Kittilä or Banak (Ivalo for Helicopters\, if any)\, and then try to locate as many air defenses as possible. The use of weapons is authorized\, just keep it outside of russia if possible. A hard lock from a fighter justifies the usage of air-to-air ordnance\, also\, just passing the border or aggressive maneuvering counts as hostile act and is seen as a “weapons free”.\nThe target zone will be divided in a northern and a southern part. Northern part is done by KRAKEN 2 and INDY 9 (around STPT 2)\, southern part is done by BENDER 2 and JESTER 1 (around STPT 4). The Vipers go in 10nm before the Hornets and try to locate any system with HTS\, and the Hornets will attack any upcoming threat if possible\, and look after smoke plumes. Any intel gathered will be collected after the mission by TGP pictures in the squad server.\nImportant notice: Call out any missile launches (Fox 1\,2\,3\, Magnum) on CH3 before launching the missile to avoid triggering the helicopters missile warning system without prior notice. \nHelicopters have their own planning\, but will progress along road R969 towards NELLIM. If they should meet stiff resistance\, requesting help from the SEAD / recon package is recommended. \n3.4 Rules of engagement\nROE: C\nAs per SPINS \n3.5 Acceptable level of risk\nALR: MEDIUM\nAs per SPINS \n3.6 Flight tasking\nWaypoints\, fixed wing \n* 1 Kittilä or Banak (Home Airfield)\n* 2 NELLIM\n* 3 RAJA-JOOSEPPI border post\n* 4-8 Front line of troops for better visualization \nIntention is to scout the area inside of waypoints 2-8.\nSituation a few hours ago: \n \n  \nRAGE9 / BLACKJACK 4 \nScout northeast of Ivalo. \nLoadout: FL decides \nWaypoints:\n1.
