Due to lacking prior preparation and logistics the intervention bogged down\, and US forces (one infantry division) stationed in the region has assisted Turkish forces in stabilising the line. Brigade is currently stretched thin ahead of an anticipated Syrian counterattack\, and rotary wing assets are planned to advance ahead of the brigade’s front and conduct a spoiling attack to break up the Syrian armoured thrust ahead of the counterattack being initiated. \n1.2 Area of operations\nSE of ALEPPO (SYRIA) in MGRS zones CV88-DV24 and DV18-DV46. The ground is mostly flat desert and villages. \n1.3 Time and weather\n* July 05 – 2017\n* 06:00 local time\n* Broken/overcast (3000′-7000′\, 17000′-22000′)\, broken (34000′)\n* Wind (Bearing / kts)\n– GND: 090 / 2\n– 1600ft: 091 / 4\n– 6600ft: 95 / 3\n– 26000ft: 071 / 4\n* Temp: +20°C\n* FORCE QNH 29.72 / 755 \n1.4 Air threats\nN/A \nSyrian regime airforce has been mostly spent as a result of the ongoing civil war\, and the remnants have not been active in the North since multiple shootdowns by Turkish fighters and air defences during the initial intervention \n1.5 Ground threats\nBMP-2\, T-72\, ZSU-23 Shilka\, AAA\, RPG\, small arms\, .50 cal\, MANPADS\, SA-6\, SA-8\, SA-9\, SA-13 \nEnemy forces are expected to be local Syrian regime forces holding the line to the brigade’s front\, and at least one regular armored brigade mustering for the expected counterattack.\nLocal forces in the AO are believed to consist mainly of dismounted infantry armed with small arms\, technicals and 23mm AAA emplacements.\nThe armored brigade is expected to be an understrength armored brigade consisting of C2 assets\, 3 tank battalions (20-30 T-72 MBTs per battalion)\, 1 motorized rifle battalions (30 BMP-1/2s)\, 1 MLRS battalion (10-15 BM-21 Grad)\, 1 reconnaissance company\, and limited air defences (ZSU-23-4 Shilka\, short range IR guided SAMs\, MANPADS).\nAdditionally\, local air defences have been known to consist of 1-2 SA-6 batteries and 3 SA-8s. All local air defences frequently relocate and transmit sparsely to avoid SEAD efforts. \nSA-6 located 50-60 km SE of FLOT. SA-8s typically 20-40 km SE of FLOT \n1.6 Friendly forces\nBrigade (HATCHET) holds the FLOT with light forces\, and will not be advancing. Some Division indiret fire assets have been subordinated to Brigade command (HATCHET 6) for this operation to supplement own indirect fire assets. \n1.7 Civilian/3rd part\nNo civilian air traffic in the area. Mostly normal civilian day to day life continues in the AO. \n2 MISSION\nRotary winged assets will conduct a spoiling attack through movement to contact through the FLOT to break up the Syrian armored brigade ahead of the Brigade. \n3 EXECUTION\n3.1 Commander’s intent\nAttrite chosen parts of the Syrian armored brigade. Priority targets and destruction will be decided with Brigade. \n3.2 Packages\nThe mission contains 1 package\, callsign WAR PARTY. All flights are part of package WAR PARTY. Additionally\, one USAF F-16 flight (Venom 4) is on standby to provide SEAD support. \n3.3 Order of events\nThis operation is divided into four phases which will be conducted chronologically: J-SEAD to support WAR PARTY crossing the FLOT\, continued on call J-SEAD throughout the operation\, search for and destruction of Priority Targets\, RTB. \n1. Indirect fires will target known and suspected Syrian air defences and relevant defensive positions along the FLOT to enable WAR PARTY transiting. \n2. Brigade and Division indirect fire\, and F-16s (Venom 4) will be on station as planned in concert with Brigade and WAR PARTY to provide continued J-SEAD support throughout the mission. \n3. OH-58s and AH-64s of WAR PARTY will search for and engage elements of Syrian armored brigade\, with a focus on pre-determined Priority Targets. \n4. WAR PARTY and Venom 4 will plan to ensure that they have RTB’d no later than 09:00 local time. \n3.4 Rules of engagement\nROE: C\nAs per SPINS\nAddition: The use of cluster munitions against enemy targets (known or suspected) within 500m of built up areas beyond 1km from the FLOT is STRICTLY PROHIBITED. \n3.5 Acceptable level of risk\nALR: MEDIUM\nAs per SPINS \n3.6 Flight tasking\nPackage WAR PARTY (Lead: KingTiger/Blackjack 4-3)\nBLACKJACK4\n* TBD \nLoadout: FL decides \nWaypoints:\n1. The initial blow led to NATO losses of 40%. It was a devastating hit\, although expected and prepared for. However\, the loss of both Hamburg and Bremerhaven was not part of that expectation… \nNATO forces have successively retreated to fallback lines\, ~35nmi (65km) south of Hamburg\, where WP-forces now has come to a halt for the day. It´s part of “plan B” to allow WP-forces to stretch fast and NATO to strike back hard when the strengths of the enemy is scattered and has the smell of victory. \nThis is where we are now\, the counter attack is imminent and the timing is perfect for more reasons than what is mentioned above:\na) The highly mobile air defense (SA-6\, 8) of WP forces are concentrated to the fallback line. Bigger ones (SA-10\, 11) are on the move\, re-deploying to new locations.\nb) WP air force are mostly grounded due to red-on-red incidents to a degree of 35%(!). They no longer dare to operate near areas where their own surface to air defense is active\, unless worth the high risk.\nc) Previous deep strikes (train junctions) during the initial day of the attack\, have left remaining forces in a temporary bad shape. \nThis is it. The moment of full-blued force in a spearheaded action to cut the red forces in half. \n1.2 Area of operations\nSouth (MRGS NE-ND) and East (MRGS NE-PE) of HAMBURG. The terrain is flat with patches of forests. \n1.3 Time and weather\nMarch 14 – 1987\n17:30 local time\nScattered (8000′)\nWind from:\n– GND: 240 / 6\n– 1600ft: 240 / 14\n– 6600ft: 289 / 4\n– 26000ft: 48 / 2\nTemp: +8°C\nFORCE QNH 30.31 / 770 / 1026.58 \n1.4 Air threats\nMiG-21\, MiG-23\, MiG-29 \nIf any air threats are to show themselves at all\, it would be most likely low-valued MiG-21´s. Enemy airfield in operation is Parchim. \n1.5 Ground threats\nInfantry\, BMP-2\, T-72\, SA-11\, SA-8\, SA-6\, AAA\, MANPADs \nAAA and MANPADs are likely tied to dug-in positions along BA7. Whereas SA-6 and SA-8 are spread out further west and east of the road\, but might still be within firing range.\nEnemy ground forces are also concentrated along the light dug-in positions (see map for locations and photos)\, however sporadic troop movements may happen on the road itself.\nFlanking enemies are expected to reinforce from the west. \n1.6 Friendly forces\nFriendly ground forces attacking from the south-west at the enemy dug-in positions\, along BA7. On demand\, a swarm of BQM-74´s can be sent in over the area to lure the SAM-sites to light up. \n1.7 Civilian/3rd part\nCivilian traffic both in air and on the ground is non-existent. \n2 MISSION\n– Support NATO ground forces that are ready to attack along the Bundesautobahn 7\, BA7) leading to Hamburg. Their counter attack starts 18:15 local time. \n– SA-10´s on the move should be knocked out before their deployment (intel suggest they travel from East to West along Bundesautobahn 24\, BA24). Also\, quick is the trick\, before Red air force wakes up to interrupt. \n3 EXECUTION\n3.1 Endstate\nThe mission is successful when blue forces have reached the outskirts of Hamburg. \n3.2 Concept of Operations\nInitially one flight neutralizes SA-6 in NAI 1.\nThen one flight strikes first dug-in position.\nFinally one flight supports ground forces attack along BA7 and one flight strikes second and third dug-in positions. \nSimultaneously during all stages one flight conducts CAP and one flight search and destroys SA-8 in NAI 2 and NAI 3. \n3.3 Flight tasking\nARCTIC1 / JESTER1\n* Neutralizes SA-6 in NAI 1 ASAP NLT 141810\n* Locate SA-10 convoy\n– Be prepared to destroy SA-10 convoy \nELVIS5\n* Conducts CAP \nFENRIS6\n* Strike first dug-in position ToT 141814\n– Be prepared to strike second dug-in position\n– Be prepared to strike third dug-in position\n– Be prepared to destroy SA-10 convoy \nBLACKJACK4 / RAGE9\n* Neutralizes SA-8 in NAI 2\n– Be prepared to neutralizes SA-8 in NAI 3 \nHAWG8\n* Hold south of frontline until 141815\n* Support ground forces from 141815 \n—————————————————-\nF/A-18C role play F/A-18A\nA-10C role play A-10A\nAH-64D role play AH-64A\nF-16C role play F-16A\n—————————————————- \n \n3.4 Rules of engagement\nROE: C\nAs per SPINS\nAddition: TBD by MC \n3.5 Acceptable level of risk\nALR: MEDIUM\nAs per SPINS \n4 ADMINISTRATION AND LOGISTICS\n4.1 Airfield operations\n– Wunstorf\n– TCN: 116X\n– Active runway: 21\n– Departure via: W2\n– Approach via: V1\n– FARP Alpha: 32U ND 3369 5822\, 215ft \n4.2 Carrier operations\n– CASE I (Dep) / Case III (Arr)\n– BRC: 282\n– Departure time: ASAP\n– Departure sequence: As needed\n– RTB: According to STINGRAY / Marshal \nAs per Carrier Ops SPINS \n4.3 Tankers\nAs per Aerial Refueling SOP \n5 COMMAND AND CONTROL\n5.1 Commander\nMission commander is HITMAN3\nMission commander deputy is STINGRAY \n5.2 Frequencies\nAs per Comms SOP \n5.3 Authentication\nRAMROD: GRANDSLICE\nAs per Authentication SOP \n5.4 Freq flow (Airfield flights)\nTBD by MC\n7\, 9\, 3/5\, 7 Remain on Tower (ch 7) during startup and departure. Their primary objective is to bypass resistance and reach the logistical hubs of Hamburg and Bremerhaven within the next 72 hours\, effectively severing the supply line for US reinforcements (REFORGER). The advance is rapid\, heavily mechanized\, and protected by a dense\, mobile air defense umbrella (SA-8\, Shilka\, SA-6). Fassberg Air Base is already under direct\, imminent threat from WP strike packages. \n1.2 Area of operations\nNorth German Plains \n1.3 Time and weather\n* Mars 11 – 1987\n* 07:16 local time\n* Scattered (11000′)\n* Wind from 263 / 4\n* Temperature: 7 degrees Celsius\n* FORCE QNH 28.94 inHg / 979.92 hPa \n1.4 Air threats\nSu-24\, Su-25\, MiG-23\, MiG-27\, MiG-29 \n1.5 Ground threats\nBMP-1/2\, T-72B\, ZSU-23 Shilka\, SA-5\, SA-6\, SA-10\, SA-11\, SA-13\, MANPADS \nSA-5 and SA-10 are known and should not be a factor west of the inner border.\nSA-11´s have been approximatley located\, they are marked on the map.\nSA-6´s have not been spotted\, but it´s well known they travel with the ground forces. Air Force General E Scrooge sat by himself in his office. Well\, one would be hard pressed to call the shed an office but it was the most luxurious establishment on the premises. He was finished yelling\, or had at least taken a brief pause in yelling\, at his subordinates. “Christmas be damned\, they still need to sort their shit out” he muttered. Some bourbon had been consumed\, not much else available to brighten the day\, and cigar smoke filled the room. Planning was underway for the next Linebacker mission which would bring yet more B52-borne death to bear on the North Vietnamese infrastructure. “Humbug!” he shouted to himself. “It won’t do to just run into their SAM-traps again and again”. \nScrooge could have sworn there was no wind but still the cigar fumes started to swirl around the room. Faster and faster until they began to take shape. A familiar one at that. But no\, it couldn’t be… In front of him stood his predecessor\, General Marley\, who had died in the opening months of the war. Scrooge panicked\, ran to open a window hoping the wind would dispel the ghostly figure. On opening the window he was shocked to see snow outside! This would in itself have justified another outburst of derogatory comments aimed at some subordinate scumbag of an officer but somehow\, having a ghost in the room seemed more important at the time. A gust of cold wind did indeed find its way into the room but Marley just stood there. How miserable he looked. \n“Scrooge”\, he said\, voice much softer now than it was in life. “I am here to tell you what awaits. For years now I have wandered this land\, not finding rest. Not experiencing the slightest joy even as afterburners light the skies and the smell of napalm welcomes the morning.” \nMarley paused\, looking at Scrooge’s mission planning board. “Tonight you will be visited by three spirits. One of Christmas Past\, one of Christmas Present and one of Christmas Yet to Come. Listen to them\, and you may yet avoid sharing my fate.” \n1.2 Area of operations\nNorthern Norway and Sweden \n1.3 Time and weather\n* Dec 24th – 1972 (In-game mission date will differ from this\, in order to give us some daylight)\n* 11:00 local time\n* FEW/SCT 8/10\, SCT 23/24\n* Wind from 230 / 6\n* Temp -5°C\n* FORCE QNH 2992 / 1013 \n1.4 Air threats\nBf-109\, MiG-21\, MiG-29 \n1.5 Ground threats\nAAA\, SA-2\, SA-6 \n1.6 Friendly forces\nN/A\, we are the only blue forces in the AO. \n1.7 Civilian/3rd part\nN/A \n2 MISSION\nGhost of Christmas Past: Protect Bergkompanie 2 and their supply convoy from Luftwaffe harassment as they advance on Alta. \nGhost of Christmas Present: Recon and sanitize the river route towards Enontekio\, recon Enontekio Toy Factory\, take over Enontekio air base \nGhost of Christmas Yet to Come: Destroy the uranium enrichment facility. \n3 EXECUTION\n3.1 Commander’s intent\nThis seems like a load of humbug! But all right\, let’s see where Marley’s spirits take us. \nThe three missions will run in parallell\, separated by geography. \n3.2 Packages\nThe mission contains 3 packages: \n* Christmas Past (P-51)\n* Christmas Present (UH-1\, C-130\, F-4)\n* Christmas Yet to Come (F/A-18\, F-16\, OH-58) \n3.3 Order of events\n* All flights are free to depart ASAP \n* For Package Christmas Yet to Come\, the TLAM strike has TOT 11.50.00\n* This is also push-time for Arctic1\n* And marks weapons free for Indy9 and Blackjack4 \n3.4 Rules of engagement\nROE: C\nAs per SPINS \n3.5 Acceptable level of risk\nALR: HIGH\nAs per SPINS \n3.6 Package tasking\nGhost of Christmas Past \nLiberation of Norway\, Alta-region\, 1944. Allied forces lead by the Norwegian 2nd Bergkompanie have pushed southwest towards Alta\, finally capturing the city\, but are now dangerously low on supplies. A freight convoy has been dispatched and will enter the Alta Fjord around noon. They have no warship escorts and must be protected from Luftwaffe air raids. \n  \nGhost of Christmas Present\nMarley’s Vietnam jungles have been distorted\, turned into some fairy tale winter wonderland. Regardless\, the NVA are still out there and INTEL says they’re hard at work building a factory near Enontekio to produce counterfeit toys. If successful\, next Christmas will be a nightmare as cheap knock-offs flood the American warehouses and end up under Genuine American Christmas Trees. \nThe river route towards Enontekio must be cleared of NVA combatants\, allowing ground forces to advance on the air base. Wild Weasels locate and destroy SA-2 site believed to be NE of Enontekio. Locate the Factory construction site and determine if there is indeed hostile activity. If so\, destroy everything there. Insert troops at Enontekio air base to take over the area. \n  \nGhost of Christmas Yet to Come\nIn the barren fjords\, the Enemy has secretly built his uranium enrichment facility. Our spies have now returned with indisputable evidence that it will be brought online any day now. The area is heavliy guarded with three major air bases – Andöya\, Evenes and Bardufoss – and a frightening number of SA-6 and SA-2 sites. An ingress route has been determined; it’s not guaranteed safe\, just the least unsafe option… To improve the odds\, a flight of Vipers will provide SEAD and Kiowas will clear the ingress route from AAA threats. Last\, but not least\, a massive volley of Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles will hit the hostile air bases. \n3.6 Flight tasking\nPackage CHRISTMAS PAST (Lead: DOLLAR11)\nDOLLAR1\n* Depart Banak\n* Check in with LONGBOW for air picture\n* Protect convoy entering the Alta Fjord \nLoadout: FL decides \nPackage CHRISTMAS PRESENT (Lead: MIGHTY11)\nMIGHTY1\n* Depart Kallax\n* Deploy FARP supplies for NITRO5\n* Determine NAUGHTY or NICE at Enontekio Humbug factory\n* Destroy factory if determined NAUGHTY\n* Land in hot LZ Enontekio\, deploy troops \nLoadout: FL decides \nWaypoints:\n1.
