Their primary objective is to bypass resistance and reach the logistical hubs of Hamburg and Bremerhaven within the next 72 hours\, effectively severing the supply line for US reinforcements (REFORGER). The advance is rapid\, heavily mechanized\, and protected by a dense\, mobile air defense umbrella (SA-8\, Shilka\, SA-6). Fassberg Air Base is already under direct\, imminent threat from WP strike packages. \n1.2 Area of operations\nNorth German Plains \n1.3 Time and weather\n* Mars 11 – 1987\n* 07:16 local time\n* Scattered (11000′)\n* Wind from 263 / 4\n* Temperature: 7 degrees Celsius\n* FORCE QNH 28.94 inHg / 979.92 hPa \n1.4 Air threats\nSu-24\, Su-25\, MiG-23\, MiG-27\, MiG-29 \n1.5 Ground threats\nBMP-1/2\, T-72B\, ZSU-23 Shilka\, SA-5\, SA-6\, SA-10\, SA-11\, SA-13\, MANPADS \nSA-5 and SA-10 are known and should not be a factor west of the inner border.\nSA-11´s have been approximatley located\, they are marked on the map.\nSA-6´s have not been spotted\, but it´s well known they travel with the ground forces. Air Force General E Scrooge sat by himself in his office. Well\, one would be hard pressed to call the shed an office but it was the most luxurious establishment on the premises. He was finished yelling\, or had at least taken a brief pause in yelling\, at his subordinates. “Christmas be damned\, they still need to sort their shit out” he muttered. Some bourbon had been consumed\, not much else available to brighten the day\, and cigar smoke filled the room. Planning was underway for the next Linebacker mission which would bring yet more B52-borne death to bear on the North Vietnamese infrastructure. “Humbug!” he shouted to himself. “It won’t do to just run into their SAM-traps again and again”. \nScrooge could have sworn there was no wind but still the cigar fumes started to swirl around the room. Faster and faster until they began to take shape. A familiar one at that. But no\, it couldn’t be… In front of him stood his predecessor\, General Marley\, who had died in the opening months of the war. Scrooge panicked\, ran to open a window hoping the wind would dispel the ghostly figure. On opening the window he was shocked to see snow outside! This would in itself have justified another outburst of derogatory comments aimed at some subordinate scumbag of an officer but somehow\, having a ghost in the room seemed more important at the time. A gust of cold wind did indeed find its way into the room but Marley just stood there. How miserable he looked. \n“Scrooge”\, he said\, voice much softer now than it was in life. “I am here to tell you what awaits. For years now I have wandered this land\, not finding rest. Not experiencing the slightest joy even as afterburners light the skies and the smell of napalm welcomes the morning.” \nMarley paused\, looking at Scrooge’s mission planning board. “Tonight you will be visited by three spirits. One of Christmas Past\, one of Christmas Present and one of Christmas Yet to Come. Listen to them\, and you may yet avoid sharing my fate.” \n1.2 Area of operations\nNorthern Norway and Sweden \n1.3 Time and weather\n* Dec 24th – 1972 (In-game mission date will differ from this\, in order to give us some daylight)\n* 11:00 local time\n* FEW/SCT 8/10\, SCT 23/24\n* Wind from 230 / 6\n* Temp -5°C\n* FORCE QNH 2992 / 1013 \n1.4 Air threats\nBf-109\, MiG-21\, MiG-29 \n1.5 Ground threats\nAAA\, SA-2\, SA-6 \n1.6 Friendly forces\nN/A\, we are the only blue forces in the AO. \n1.7 Civilian/3rd part\nN/A \n2 MISSION\nGhost of Christmas Past: Protect Bergkompanie 2 and their supply convoy from Luftwaffe harassment as they advance on Alta. \nGhost of Christmas Present: Recon and sanitize the river route towards Enontekio\, recon Enontekio Toy Factory\, take over Enontekio air base \nGhost of Christmas Yet to Come: Destroy the uranium enrichment facility. \n3 EXECUTION\n3.1 Commander’s intent\nThis seems like a load of humbug! But all right\, let’s see where Marley’s spirits take us. \nThe three missions will run in parallell\, separated by geography. \n3.2 Packages\nThe mission contains 3 packages: \n* Christmas Past (P-51)\n* Christmas Present (UH-1\, C-130\, F-4)\n* Christmas Yet to Come (F/A-18\, F-16\, OH-58) \n3.3 Order of events\n* All flights are free to depart ASAP \n* For Package Christmas Yet to Come\, the TLAM strike has TOT 11.50.00\n* This is also push-time for Arctic1\n* And marks weapons free for Indy9 and Blackjack4 \n3.4 Rules of engagement\nROE: C\nAs per SPINS \n3.5 Acceptable level of risk\nALR: HIGH\nAs per SPINS \n3.6 Package tasking\nGhost of Christmas Past \nLiberation of Norway\, Alta-region\, 1944. Allied forces lead by the Norwegian 2nd Bergkompanie have pushed southwest towards Alta\, finally capturing the city\, but are now dangerously low on supplies. A freight convoy has been dispatched and will enter the Alta Fjord around noon. They have no warship escorts and must be protected from Luftwaffe air raids. \n  \nGhost of Christmas Present\nMarley’s Vietnam jungles have been distorted\, turned into some fairy tale winter wonderland. Regardless\, the NVA are still out there and INTEL says they’re hard at work building a factory near Enontekio to produce counterfeit toys. If successful\, next Christmas will be a nightmare as cheap knock-offs flood the American warehouses and end up under Genuine American Christmas Trees. \nThe river route towards Enontekio must be cleared of NVA combatants\, allowing ground forces to advance on the air base. Wild Weasels locate and destroy SA-2 site believed to be NE of Enontekio. Locate the Factory construction site and determine if there is indeed hostile activity. If so\, destroy everything there. Insert troops at Enontekio air base to take over the area. \n  \nGhost of Christmas Yet to Come\nIn the barren fjords\, the Enemy has secretly built his uranium enrichment facility. Our spies have now returned with indisputable evidence that it will be brought online any day now. The area is heavliy guarded with three major air bases – Andöya\, Evenes and Bardufoss – and a frightening number of SA-6 and SA-2 sites. An ingress route has been determined; it’s not guaranteed safe\, just the least unsafe option… To improve the odds\, a flight of Vipers will provide SEAD and Kiowas will clear the ingress route from AAA threats. Last\, but not least\, a massive volley of Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles will hit the hostile air bases. \n3.6 Flight tasking\nPackage CHRISTMAS PAST (Lead: DOLLAR11)\nDOLLAR1\n* Depart Banak\n* Check in with LONGBOW for air picture\n* Protect convoy entering the Alta Fjord \nLoadout: FL decides \nPackage CHRISTMAS PRESENT (Lead: MIGHTY11)\nMIGHTY1\n* Depart Kallax\n* Deploy FARP supplies for NITRO5\n* Determine NAUGHTY or NICE at Enontekio Humbug factory\n* Destroy factory if determined NAUGHTY\n* Land in hot LZ Enontekio\, deploy troops \nLoadout: FL decides \nWaypoints:\n1. Our onboard sensors have visually located a possible location for the jamming\, which was later confirmed by our A-10 pilots who managed to pinpoint the signal to the same area. At the same time\, we have collected information from active air defenses in the area. The time to strike is now! \n1.2 Area of operations\nBeqaa Valley\, Lebanon\, and surrounding countries. \n1.3 Time and weather\n* September 10 – 2001\n* 15:00 local time\n* BKN 8/18/30\n* Wind from 250 / 7\n* FORCE QNH 2992 / 1013\n* Temp 26°C \n1.4 Air threats\nTwo Il-76 “Candid” and two Mi-8 “Hip” located at Rayak airfield.\nRrecords do not suggest any fighter or strike aircraft having landed at Rayak in recent time. \n1.5 Ground threats\nSA-10 “Grumble” located south of Rayak airfield. \nSeveral mobile SAM systems are active in the area:\nOne SA-22 “Greyhound” was located northwest of Rayak airfield.\nOne SA-15 “Gauntlet” located 8NM east of Rayak airfield.\nOne SA-15 “Gauntlet” located 9NM north of Rayak airfield.\nOne SA-8 “Gecko” located 14NM southwest of Rayak airfield. \nExpect these systems to have regrouped by the time of our next attack. However\, the assessment is that their tasks remain the same. One SA-22 as point-defence at Rayak airfield\, one SA-15 point-defence at EWR\, one SA-15 north of airfield to deny any attack from the north towards Rayak area and SA-8s\, ZSU-23s as close protection to enemy troops in the area. Expect all infantry to carry MANPADS\, mainly SA-18s. \nMultiple ground units have been located along the roads towards Rayak. Company sized force defending SQUIRREL\, Platoon to Company sized force defending WOMBAT. The platoon sized force defending ELEPHANT was reduced in nubres by our attack helicotpers during this mornings operation. The assessment is that only a small outpost (36S YC 7497 3402\, 4654ft) remains. This will be our way in to Rayak. \n1.6 Friendly forces\nMainly air power: One Carrier Strike Group in the eastern part of the Mediterranean. Israeli forces at Ramat David. Until it’s suddenly not there anymore. No satellite television\, no global positioning systems\, no long range communications\, and perhaps most alarming for a nation state – no satellite intel. \nFor the first few minutes it was thought to be just a ‘glitch’. But nothing came back online. Panic followed. The realisation set in\, that right now someone could be launching a first strike and you wouldn’t know until the warheads started falling from the sky. Air Force One took off. Alert interceptors scrambled all over the continent. Strategic forces went to high alert and for a moment it seemed that someone might actually go ahead and pull THE trigger just for fear of being the last to unholster their gun. Then reports started to trickle in that this wasn’t just affecting us. It was everyone. The Russians\, The Chinese\, The Iranians… all the actors you would initially have thought to blame for something like this. An emergency meeting of the UN Security Council followed and for once there was agreement. We have to find out what happened. And put an end to it. Right the fuck now. \nIntelligence agencies soon determined the source to be a massive cyberattack aimed at the satellites themselves. Something that could only be pulled off from a seriously powerful uplink station. Following old SIGINT data\, the likely location came up as somewhere in the Beqaa Valley\, Lebanon. The Lebanese\, furious at the accusation\, went to see for themselves but none of their patrols returned to base. Just scattered reports of ground combat and pilots shouting in panic as they evaded SAMs. \nCENTCOM is now tasked with finding out what’s going on\, and ending it. Any and all resources in the area\, regardless of nationality\, will be pressed into service. If by nightfall the situation has not been resolved by conventional means\, only the nuclear option remains. One that would spell disaster for millions of civilians. \n1.2 Area of operations\nBeqaa Valley\, Lebanon\, and surrounding countries. \n1.3 Time and weather\n* September 10 – 2001\n* 06:00 local time (just after sunrise)\n* BKN 8/18/30\n* Wind from 250 / 7\n* FORCE QNH 2992 / 1013\n* Temp 21°C \n1.4 Air threats\nUnknown. There is at least one operational airfield in the area\, Rayak. However\, records do not suggest any fighter or strike aircraft having landed there in recent time. Only transport planes and helos. \n1.5 Ground threats\nUnknown. \nAs for surface-to-air threats\, ELINT indicates at least one late Soviet era search radar. Recon aircraft were engaged at ranges indicating “double digit” SAMs such as SA-10 or SA-11. \nLebanese ground forces were met with overwhelming firepower from tanks and artillery\, suggesting at least battalion strength. \n1.6 Friendly forces\nMainly air power: One Carrier Strike Group in the eastern part of the Mediterranean. Israeli forces at Ramat David. Russian forces at Bassel Al-Assad. Other nationalities joining in as we speak. Limited ground forces from Israel and Lebanon. \n1.7 Civilian/3rd part\nCivilian air traffic is firmly grounded. There has been no evacuation of civilians from the Beqaa Valley area. \n2 MISSION\nLocate the uplink site. If at all possible\, gather physical evidence and prisoners. The Syrian Regime\, bolstered by Russian military support\, has been making rapid advances around Damascus.\nU.S. intelligence failed to anticipate just how effective the Russian Maskirovka tactics can be\, and now Syrian forces are pushing forward in a surprising pace\, threatening the capital. \nIn the north\, Al-Dumays airfield represents both as a logistic hub and potential staging ground for future airstrikes. Its neutralization is crucial to keeping the enemy at bay.\nMeanwhile\, in the south\, the A-10 pilot’s capture could send a signal of vulnerability of American forces in the region. A successful recovery will show that U.S. forces are not only capable of striking hard\, but also of retrieving their own when things get tough. \n1.2 Area of operations\nBACKTRACK (MGRS: BT): 23nm ENE of DAMASCUS. In the aftermath of the strike\, there were loud complaints from the usual suspects – Russia\, Cuba\, China and the Arab League. Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei went so far as to describe the attack as “terrorism”\, threatening to punish those responsible for “attacks against Islam”. \nDetermined to show resolve\, president Clinton ordered the US 5th fleet to conduct a freedom of navigation exercise in the Persian Gulf. Two days later\, on August 22nd\, Carrier Strike Group 11 lead by USS Theodore Roosevelt transited the Strait of Hormuz at full battle stations. As CENTCOM expected\, the Iranians eventually stood down and the strike group proceeded into the Gulf\, staying just outside Iran’s internationally recognized  territorial waters. \nIt is now the early hours of August 23rd and CSG-11 will turn south\, its mission accomplished. SUMMARY:The Kandahar Chronicles: Mission 1 - Operation Desert Serpent
DESCRIPTION:Mission Name: Operation Desert Serpent\nAircraft: AH-64 Apache (RAGE9) – 2 ship\, OH-58 Kiowa Warrior (BLACKJACK4) – 1 ship\nBackground: Insurgent intelligence indicates a critical weapons cache and a High-Value Target (HVT) are being moved out of the Spin Boldak area\, using the transition of dawn to mask their movement toward a major distribution hub.\nIntel: The HVT convoy consists of 3 technicals and 2 cargo trucks. They are traveling from Spin Boldak (near the Pakistan border) and are expected to be moving northbound or northwest along primary or secondary routes. The Kiowa (BLACKJACK4) will act as the forward scout and designator. The Apaches (RAGE9) will be the primary strike platform.\n\nAir Defense Threat: Expect standard small arms and 1-2 MANPADS teams. CRITICAL: Intelligence also suggests the presence of an emplaced ZU-23-2 (Soviet twin 23mm AAA) protecting a choke point along the likely route. You must neutralize this threat to ensure the safety of your aircraft.\nRules of Engagement (ROE): Positive Identification (PID) is mandatory. Civilian traffic\, consisting of unescorted civilian vehicles\, is likely on the main roads. You must confirm the target as the 3 Technicals and 2 Cargo Trucks before engaging. Avoid engaging near civilian vehicles.\n\n\nObjectives:\n\nLocate and positively identify the HVT convoy using the Kiowa Warrior.\nDestroy the HVT convoy.\n\n\nMission Success: All five HVT vehicles destroyed\, and no civilian casualties.\nMission Failure: HVT convoy escapes\, or friendly aircraft are destroyed\, or any confirmed civilian casualties occur.\nWeather: Clear skies\, light winds from the west (5-10 knots).\nTime of Day: 05:15 Local (Sunrise)

The red side was already at high alert due to our ongoing exercise – ABLE ARCHER 83 – and can be expected to roll across the border any minute now.  \n1.2 Area of operations\nWest Germany\, Denmark\, Baltic Sea \n1.3 Time and weather\n* Sept 07 – 1983\n* 09:15 local time\n* SCT 8-10\n* Wind from 270 / 7 kts\n* Temp 23° C\n* FORCE QNH 3051 \n1.4 Air threats\nMiG-21\, MiG-23\, MiG-29 \n1.5 Ground threats\nEast Germany is littered with SAM sites\, mainly SA-2 and SA-3. Closer to the ground expect MANPADS and ZSU-23. \n1.6 Friendly forces\nWest German air defenses have now been brought up to full alert status. Several HAWK batteries are situated along the border. \n1.7 Civilian/3rd part\nCivilian air traffic is suspended. \n2 MISSION\nExecute pre-planned SEAD and STRIKE missions against Warszaw pact forces before they cross the border. \nEliminate the Soviet naval threat in the Baltic. \n3 EXECUTION\n3.1 Commander’s intent\nWarszaw Pact mechanized units are stationed in close proximity to the border. Once they are on the move\, we will be severely outnumbered. As per pre-war planning we will strike them while they are still on their side of the border. Doing so will require a daring SEAD mission by the Wild Weasels. \nDuring exercise ABLE ARCHER\, several high-ranking officers were in bunkers close to the border. We will need to evacuate them before they are hit by air strikes and/or steamrolled by armor. \nThe Carrier Air Wing will provide CAP. \nSweden was drawn into the conflict and Viggens have found themselves stationed in Lübeck. Their mission will be to sink the Soviet naval forces in the Baltic but doing so requires ordnance that is not available in NATO stores. A C-130 transport from Sweden will deliver RBS04 to Hamburg (Finkenwerder). The transport must be met over Denmark and escorted to Hamburg. Once there\, the Viggens will also land to rearm for their anti-ship mission. \n3.2 Packages\nThe mission consists of three packages. \nPackage ARCHER (Elvis5\, Arctic1 and Bender2) provides CAP. Package lead is ELVIS51. \nPackage MACE (Banshee2\, Jester1 and Indy9) will conduct SEAD and STRIKE on Warszaw Pact forces still east of the border. \nPackage ULV (Fenris6 and Grim7) will escort the C-130 transport to Hamburg and then conduct anti-ship strikes in the Baltic. \nNot part of package is NITRO5\, tasked with VIP evacuation \n3.3 Order of events\nARCHER departs ASAP to establish CAP over the AO. \nMACE departs ASAP\, assembles at designated IP and proceeds on STINGRAY’s orders \nULV departs ASAP on their escort mission \nNITRO5 departure depending on air picture \n3.4 Rules of engagement\nROE: C\nAs per SPINS \n3.5 Acceptable level of risk\nALR: HIGH\nAs per SPINS \n3.6 Flight tasking\nPackage ARCHER (Lead: ELVIS51)\nELVIS5 \n* Depart Mother\n* Check in with STINGRAY to receive CAP instructions\n* Refuel at ARCO1 or 5 as needed\n* RTB on order from STINGRAY \nWaypoints:\nWP1: CAP NORTH Lat Long Standard: N 54°05’08” E 9°51’23”\nWP2: CAP MID Lat Long Standard: N 53°12’03” E 10°06’50”\nWP3: CAP SOUTH Lat Long Standard: N 52°05’17” E 10°08’10” \nARCTIC1 \n* Depart Mother\n* Check in with STINGRAY to receive CAP instructions\n* Refuel at ARCO1 or 5 as needed\n* RTB on order from STINGRAY \nLoadout: FL decides (within limits of historic restrictions) \nWaypoints:\n1. One that starts with conventional weapons but potentially ends in a nuclear holocaust. While it is mainly a command-level exercise\, there will also be elements simulating the conflict on the tactical level\, providing the leadership with some measure of realistic feedback to their decisions. \n1.2 Area of operations\nWest Germany \n1.3 Time and weather\n* Sept 07 – 1983\n* 06:30 local time\n* SCT 8-10\n* Wind from 270 / 7 kts\n* Temp 23° C\n* FORCE QNH 3051 \n1.4 Air threats\nOn this side of the Iron Curtain no threats are expected. Stray to the other side and you will find the entire arsenal at the Warszaw Pact’s disposal. \n1.5 Ground threats\nOn this side of the Iron Curtain no threats are expected. Stray to the other side and you will find the entire arsenal at the Warszaw Pact’s disposal. \n1.6 Friendly forces\nN/A\, we are the only blue forces in the exercise area \n1.7 Civilian/3rd part\nCivilian air traffic is suspended over the exercise area but otherwise unrestricted \n2 MISSION\nDay ONE of Able Archer ’83. The briefing for the political and military leaders that participate in this exercise describes a short period of increased tensions between Nato and the Warszaw Pact\, after which hostilities suddenly erupt across the German border. Hostile fighters engage the NATO CAP while attack aircraft focus on airfields and SAM-sites. The military leadership will initially focus their training on execution of pre-planned defensive missions while the political leadership have to consider how they migt protect the civilian population as well as how attempts could be made to find diplomatic solutions to the conflict before it escalates out of control. \nThe Carrier Battle Group is participating in the exercise but only at command level. The Air Wing conducts routine CAP. \nViggens at Kallinge are the routine incident alert fighters. It is expected that the Warzsaw pact will conduct aerial and/or naval intelligence gathering during the ongoing NATO exercise. If they venture into the Baltic sea we will intercept them for VID and “wave the flag”. \n3 EXECUTION\n3.1 Commander’s intent\nPackages LONGBOW and PICKAXE conduct exercises as detailed below. NOTE! All pilots must be familiar with the range regulations (3.4.1). \nCSAR resources conduct separate exercises but are on stand-by in case their services are needed. \nThe Carrier Air Group is not participating in the exercise. Their mission is the same as always – keep the Carrier Battle Group safe. \nViggens are the routine alert interceptors at F17 Kallinge. \n3.2 Packages\nThe mission contains 2 packages: LONGBOW and PICKAXE (consisting of F/A-18\, F-16\, and F4).\n \nLONGBOW (Arctic1 and Banshee2) is the A2A component of the exercise. Blue forces will set up CAP and maintain EMCON conditions. Redfor will simulate a low-level incursion from the east\, following expected Soviet doctrine. \nPICKAXE (Bender2\, Jester1 and Indy9) simulates a strike by Redfor (Jester and Indy) on a blue airfield. Bluefor (Bender) is the QRF at Gutersloh air base. \n3.3 Order of events\nLONGBOW (blue and red) and PICKAXE (red) depart Ramstein and assemble at designated IP:s. Pickaxe (blue) starts up at Gutersloh\, awaiting STINGRAY’s orders. \n“Defeated” aircraft return to IP in anticipation of either a new round of exercise or RTB\, depending on time and fuel constraints. \n3.4 Rules of engagement\nROE: A\nAs per SPINS \n3.4.1 Range regulations\n\nOnly CAPTIVE missiles are used. (Live ordnance loaded as needed for systems to function in DCS but for all intents and purposes these missiles are considered inert.) MASTER ARM shall be set to SIMULATION or OFF\, depending on aircraft type\, at all times. Guns shall be UNLOADED.\nSupersonic flight is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN\nNo electronic warfare\, including Self-protection jammers\n\nAltitude separation \n\n\n\nBLUE forces own the “6-10” altitude blocks 6000-10000\, 16000-20000 and 26000-30000\nRED forces own the “1-5” altitude blocks 0-5000\, 11000-15000 and 21000-25000\nPassing through the opposing side’s altitude block may be requested by FL and authorized by STINGRAY if deconfliction is certain.\nAn individual pilot who wants to violate the other side’s altitude block without explicit authorization from STINGRAY may only do so if the following conditions are met:\n\nFighters from opposing sides have merged\nPilot intends to maneuver for a “kill”\nPilot has situational awareness of both BLUE and RED air in his immediate vicinity\n\n\n\n\n\nCalling shots \n\n\n\nShots may only be called if the aggressor has radar lock on his opponent and is within indicated Rmax of the selected weapon. Good sportsmanship is expected at all times. Cheaters get latrine duty.\nAggressor calls on the common frequency: [Callsign] [Fox1 / Fox2 / Guns guns guns] on [aircraft type] my [o’clock\, high/low\, in level flight / in a right- / left hand turn]\nA defeated aircraft\, recognizing it was the target\, will rock its wings to acknowledge the “kill” and then safely return to IP. DESCRIPTION:RSVP: 2025-09-12 – 19:30 (please sign-up asap though\, as it makes things easier to plan)\nActivity: Security/recon.\nTheatre: Syria\nModules: OH-58D\, AH-64\nPrerequisites: None \nWeather:\nMission time 20:00 (Dark)\nQNH 29.80. Low cloud base. Wind 090/2 Temp +20C \nWe will continue our security task in AO CHESTNUT against militia trying to destabilize Syria. (with a twist…) \nSITUATION\nLast missions success have triggered something we did not anticipate. BADLAND\, the country north of the known border has been known for supporting the militias with weapons and supplies but have now moved into an active phase. \nENEMY\nArmored convoys have crossed the border crossings and advanced south towards CHARLIE along MSR FOX in order to complete what the militias failed to. – evicting US forces out from OP OAK.\nEnemy forces are better trained and better equipped\, T-90s and BMP-3 have been spotted in the convoys crossing the border.\nLooking at their AA assets we have seen ZSU-23-4 Shilkas\, SA-13 and SA-15 before and expect to meet them again. \nFRIENDLY\nNo friendly ground forces in the active part of the AO. Area of 10km out from OP OAK is patrolled by friendly forces and considered safe. \nMISSION\nStop the enemy assault advancing along MSR FOX. \nLOGISTICS\nFARP at OP OAK\, no other replen available. \nCOMMAND/CONTROL\nFM 33.0 is package net for coordination between flights. \nGAMEPLAY\nRespawn is allowed in order to get as much training effect as possible. However if a bird goes down all other birds has to disengage and reform with the respawning bird before going back in against the threat. \nKNEEBOARD for this and future missions:

Now in the early hours of D+2\, recon units advancing along the valley and the M1 Highway towards Homs were suddenly engaged by concentrated fire from artillery\, mortars and tanks. It seems the enemy has chosen this chokepoint to make their stand. Büchel Air Base has been chosen to host fighter squadrons. The exercise is focused on low-level strike operations. Norwegian and French squadrons have been invited and will take part. \nDaily exercises are to be flown. Initially\, they will be single-route operations\, but as the missions progress\, more advanced multi-route and time-on-target operations take over. \nThe Norwegians are from Rygge Air Station\, Sq. 336 flying F-5 Freedom Fighters\,\nFrance is providing a few F1s. And joining from Hopsten is the 72nd Jagdgeschwader with their F-4s. \n1.2 Area of operations\nCentral and south Hessen\, limited by Hockenheim in the south\, Geibelstadt and Fritzlar in the east\, and RAF Gütersloh in the north. It consists of varying countryside and is populated by smaller towns. Frankfurt is the only large city located in the AO. \n1.3 Time and weather\n* Light haze\, good ceiling.\n* Winds from the east.\n* QNH 1021hpa / 30.16inhg\n* Target QFE 984hpa / 29.06inhg \n1.4 Air threat\nNone \n1.5 Ground/Surface threat\nNone \n1.6 Friendly forces\nApart from our operation\, the RAF will operate in the area with C-130s. \n1.7 Civilian/3rd part\nBeware of civilian air traffic outside the AO. Frankfurt has heavy commercial traffic and expect GA activity outside our corridors and airspaces. \n2 MISSION\nThe opening exercise will be a visual\, low-level navigation with high-drag bombing. \nAll groups will fly the same route\, separated by 3 minutes. \nThe target is a bridge in central Hessen. The route will take you around the target in a left-hand pattern\, and the attack direction will be from the north. \n3 EXECUTION \n3.1 Commander’s intent\nThe intent is for all flights to hit all waypoints within +/- 1 minute and\, of course\, have bombs on target. \nIf this can be achieved without climbing to locate one’s position\, the exercise will be a success. \n3.2 Packages\n– \n3.3 Order of events\n(Times are given in CET) \n– Startup at 0705\n– Departure\n– Establish in holds at WP 0 \nROLEX = 0730 \nPush times:\n– Zippy 8 ROLEX\n– Cylon 3 ROLEX + 3\n– Merlin 4 ROLEX + 6\n– Banshee 2 ROLEX + 9 \nAircraft on the track from 0730 to 0810 \nSharp RTB at 0815. \n3.4 Rules of engagement\nROE: A – Peacetime\nAs per SPINS \n3.5 Acceptable level of risk\nALR: LOW\nAs per SPINS \n3.6 Flight tasking\n(Times are given in CET) \nRoute parameters from push to WP7 (All flights)\n400kt and 500ft AGL or below. \nZippy 8\n– Startup at 0705\n– Depart\, leave via exit east.\n– Establish in hold at WP 0 by latest: 0725 and @ 3500ft AMSL\n– Push from WP 0 on ROLEX\n– Bombs on target 0748 +/- 1\n– Sharp RTB at 0815.\n– Approach via entry west. \nFixed loadout: 4 x Mk82 Snakeye\, 1 x drop tank\, 2 x AIM-9P \nCylon 3\n– Startup at 0705\n– Depart\, leave via exit east.\n– Establish in hold at WP 0 by latest: 0728 and @ 4500ft AMSL\n– Push from WP 0 on ROLEX + 3\n– Bombs on target 0751 +/- 1\n– Sharp RTB at 0815.\n– Approach via entry west. \nFixed loadout: 6 x SAMP 250kg HD\, 2 x drop tanks\, 2 x R550 \nMerlin 4\n– Startup at 0705\n– Depart\, leave via exit east.\n– Establish in hold at WP 0 by latest: 0731 and @ 5500ft AMSL\n– Push from WP 0 on ROLEX + 6\n– Bombs on target 0754 +/- 1\n– Sharp RTB at 0815.\n– Approach via entry west. \nFixed loadout: 6 x Mk82 Snakeye\, 2 x drop tanks\, 4 x AIM-9P\, 4 x AIM-7E \nBanshee 2\n– Startup at 0705\n– Depart\, leave via exit east.\n– Establish in hold at WP 0 by latest: 0734 and @ 6500ft AMSL\n– Push from WP 0 on ROLEX + 9\n– Bombs on target 0757 +/- 1\n– Sharp RTB at 0815.\n– Approach via entry west. \nFixed loadout: 6 x Mk82 Snakeye\, 2 x drop tanks\, 4 x AIM-9P\, 4 x AIM-7E \n4 ADMINISTRATION AND LOGISTICS \n4.1 Airfield operations\n* Büchel Air Base\n* TCN: BUE 118X\n* Active runway: 03 \n5 COMMAND AND CONTROL \n5.1 Commander\n* Mission commander is STINGRAY \n5.2 Frequencies\nAs per Comms SOP \n5.3 Authentication\nRAMROD: STANDGUARD\nAs per Authentication SOP \n5.4 Freq flow\n7\, 3\, 7\nNo clearance is required for startup. They invaded finland to protect russian minorities. Initial gains due to the element of surprise went up to a front line only kilometers east of Kemi Tornio where the initiative stalled. Even the americans are actively supporting the operations\, in an eager move to regain trust in europe.\nIn a move to break the enemy’s back air operations focus an the area KUUSAMO – LOUKHI – ZELENOBORSKI – KANDALAKSHA with the intend of cutting off the whole peninsula from supplies\, hoping to entirely collapse the enemy’s ability to continue fighting and force them back into negotiations. \n \nOwn ground operations are currently focussing along the axis KEMI TORNIO – KUUSAMO (small blue arrows) in an attempt to cut off enemy forces further by cutting off PYAOZERSKI\, the only road and rail connection to KUUSAMO which is currently the main supply axis for the russian forces in Finland. \n1.2 Area of operations\nTodays mission will take us deep into enemy territory\, about 75nm east of ALAKOURTTI airbase.\nWaypoints SLEDGE: \n \nAttention\, FENRIS 6 starts from Voujärvi and will have:\n– 1: Voujärvi\n– 2: Penetration point\n– 3: Ingress point\n– 4: Alakourtti \nWaypoints REAPER: \n \nSatellite image from Alakourtti some hours ago: \n \n  \n1.3 Time and weather\n* February 10 – 2025\n* 10:00 local time\n* Scattered\n* Wind 320 / 2\n* QNH 3020 / 1023 \n1.4 Air threats\nMiG-29\, Su-27\, MiG-31. \nMiG-29 and Su-27 are often used as point interceptors\, while MiG-31s are regularly conducting CAP and sweep sorties along the front line. \n1.5 Ground threats\nAll from MANPADS to SA-10. Mostly consisting of SA-10 and SA-11 batteries on airports and SA-15 as point defense. Most of these are connected into their integrated air defense system (IADS)\, posing a serious threat to own operations.\n– One SA-10 is active at ALAKOURTTI.\n– Earlier recon sorties show indications of SA-15 near ZELENOBORSKI and at least one SA-11 northwest of the target. It seems to not cover the target\, but it’s rather close. \n1.6 Friendly forces\nN/A\, we are the only blue forces in the AO. \n1.7 Civilian/3rd part\nNothing. It is pretty cold\, civilians have left the area and the area is sparsely populated. \n2 MISSION\nTodays operation aims to disable the supply area in ZELENOBORSKI\, located east of ALAKOURTTI and south of KANDALAKSHA about 75nm in russian territory. This is one storage area supporting enemy operations near SAVUKOSKI\, threatening to push the front line further in the VOUJÄRVI / ROVANIEMI direction. \n3 EXECUTION\n3.1 Commander’s intent\nTake out the supply area at ZELENOBORSKI\, consisting of\n– 2x ammo bunker\n– 2x fuel tank\n– 1x railway station \n \nThe task for the helicopters is to relieve pressure on KEMI TORNIO by attacking ground forces east of that point.\n \nThere is only one main road\, and currently\, the enemy holds these positions. The positions marked with “Skogsfarp” are places on which you can rearm if we get to hold these. You are not expected to progress all the way to Kuusamo\, but to hopefully progress up to the first FARP\, which is 30nm east of KEMI TORNIO.\nIt is unknown which units are there\, but there is at least one group of artillery located roughly 15nm east of KEMI TORNIO near the intersection of road 923 coming down from TERVOLA and road 924 going from SIMO along the river northbound\, between the both first\, most western blue arrows on the picture above. \n3.2 Packages\nThe mission contains 2 packages\, callsign SLEDGE which consists of the strike package. The other package is REAPER and is tasked with relieving the pressure on KEMI TORNIO. \n3.3 Order of events\n  \nPackage SLEDGE will form up over VOUJÄRVI (Steerpoint 2 for all except of FENRIS who starts from that point). The tasking for SLEDGE consists of two phases: \n1. Disabling the SA-10 at ALAKOURTTI airfield.\nIn order to do so\, a flight of F/A-18 will engage the target with TALDS\, followed up by F-16 (VENOM 4) and AJS-37 (FENRIS 6) that will use hard-kill munition to take the site down for good. According to intel\, there is an EWR to the north of the airfield that should be taken out. Expect SA-15 as point defense. As a minimal requirement\, emptying out the SA-10 site with decoys can be considered as a success for this phase.\nVENOM 4 will be tasked with taking out the SA-10 radar while it is busy with TALD and JSOW from (AI) hornets and will afterwards be top cover for FENRIS 6 who will strike Alakourtti with BK90.\nIf remaining ordnance and fuel allows\, the further tasking for VENOM will be supporting JESTER 1 on their way in.\nMUSTANG 4 will provide TARCAP during the operation\, and\, if possible\, cover the retreat of JESTER 1 and BENDER 2 later. \n2. When the TALD flight consisting of 4 hornets has dropped the first JSOW / TALD wave\, JESTER 1 and BENDER 2 will penetrate russian airspace at waypoint 3. If the SA-10 is considered supressed at this point\, the attack will follow a HI-HI-HI scheme\, otherwise\, it will be HI-LO-HI\, with a nap of the earth profile after steerpoint 3 and a popup 20nm prior to target. Expect SA-15 to be active around the target area\, so release your weapons from altitude which will also give the penetrators enough kinetic energy to actually break the bunkers.\nAccording to intel\, we have one SA-11 northwest of the target.\nAs enemy interceptors are expected to appear within minutes of the attack being known\, we need to be fast. It is recommended to keep the package tight and pretty fast.\nGreen vector is the way you came in\, as there might be air defenses in the south.\nTrip distance is about 200nm to the target\, so about 400nm in total. \nThe whole operation is expected to shield off package REAPER from any enemy fighters during that time. \nPackage REAPER will hunt enemy ground units from KEMI TORNIO to point SKOGSFARP\, about 30nm east of KEMI TORNIO. Enemy troops are holding some bridges along the road from SIMO (on the coast) to point SKOGSFARP\, and are suspected to have placed artillery along the intersection of the road coming from TERVOLA and the one coming north from SIMO. \n3.4 Rules of engagement\nROE: C\nAs per SPINS \n3.5 Acceptable level of risk\nALR: MEDIUM\nAs per SPINS \n3.6 Flight tasking\nEvery pre-planned flight in Package SLEDGE (except FENRIS) has the following waypoints: \n1: KITTILÄ\n2: VOUJÄRVI\n3: PENETRATION POINT – at this point\, we either stick to a high profile or drop to low altitude.\n4: IP POINT\n5: TARGET\n6: ALAKOURTTI – DO NOT OVERFLY. This is as a reference to a known SA-10 position.\nEGRESS is expected to go the same route just backwards\, unless the SA-10 is gone and we can egress on high altitude. \nFENRIS 6 has\n1: VOUJÄRVI\n2: PENETRATION POINT – at this point\, we either stick to a high profile or drop to low altitude.\n3: IP POINT\n4: ALAKOURTTI\nThese steerpoints are not mandatory\, neither is FENRIS 6 required to stick to them- but coordination with VENOM flight should take place. \nFor Package REAPER\, the waypoints will be as follows: \n1. KEMI TORNIO\n2. Own troops\n3 to 6. While ultimately unsuccessful\, it marked a clear change of pace for the campaign. We also saw a large transfer of aircraft from Iraq to the Shiraz air base in Iran. \nWorryingly\, there was also an incident involving the Iranian Navy and Air Force centered around the air base on Lavan Island. An F/A-18 flight was fired upon by naval vessels and a subsequent air engagement saw the loss of one Hornet to enemy fire. Retribution was swift but incomplete. \nCENTCOM has decided we need to send a very clear message to Iran not to interfere in the campaign\, but care must be taken to avoid an all-out war. As a measured response\, the base on Lavan Island will be annihilated\, along with any naval forces within a 15 nm radius. Other Iranian forces will be spared\, as long as they do not interfere with the operation. \n1.2 Area of operations\nEastern Persian Gulf\, Lavan Island and surrounding area. \n1.3 Time and weather\n* Jan 25th – 1991\n* 07:00 local time\n* SCT 12/14\, FEW 40\n* Wind from 310 (to 130) / 8 kts\n* FORCE QNH 2981 \n1.4 Air threats\nMiG-21\, MiG-29\, F4\, F5\, F-14\, Mi-24 \n1.5 Ground/Surface threats\nSA-5 in Shiraz. Sink any naval vessels in or around the island. \nIranian naval vessels outside (15 nm+) of Lavan Island will be intercepted but given a chance to turn around. Should they fail to do so\, we are authorized to sink them. \nMaintain air superiority over the AO. Engage any Iranian aircraft that show hostile intent\, as defined in the ROE section. \nDestroy any SAM-sites considered a threat\, regardless of location. \n3 EXECUTION\n3.1 Commander’s intent\nA combined strike force of A-10\, AH-64\, AV8 and Mirage 2000 will hit Lavan Island with a focus on runway\, Silkworm launchers\, surface-to-air installations\, and remaining ships.
