It occurred on October 3\, 2009\, when a force of 400 Taliban assaulted the American Combat Outpost (“COP”) Keating near the town of Kamdesh in Nuristan Province in eastern Afghanistan. The attack was the bloodiest battle for US forces since the Battle of Wanat in July 2008\, which occurred 20 miles (32 km) away from Kamdesh. Protect Keating and Fritsche. F-15E\, F-16C\, F/A-18 and A-10 to run pinpoint strike missions\, assignments will be distributed during the battle. AH-65 and OH-58 to conduct BAI in and around Kamdesh (Fritsche)\, and to provide support to strike package if needed. Later to rendezvous with inbound CH-47 on its re-supply mission to Frische. \n3.2 Packages\nThe mission contains 1 package\, callsign WOLFPACK. All flights are part of package WOLFPACK.\n \n3.3 Order of events\nRage and blackjack are scheduled for immediate departure from FOB Dillon. Indy\, Arctic\, Hitman and Pig to depart from Bagram AFB and make way to your WP3 for holding and tasking in the AO. Greyhound will depart from FOB Dillon and head to FOB Gatling to pick up a squad of rangers\, then continue up to holding point WP5 and wait for Rage to escort to Fritsche. \nCluster ammunitions are NOT allowed \nRage and Blackjack are free to operate south-east of Fritsche and east of Keating in the lower valley.
